Are dress shirts in fashion for kids where you live?

I live in a little city near New york, and for a few months, my 10 years old son wants to wear nothing but dress shirts! It is in fashion in his school.
But he always wears it untucked, even if he wears a sweat or a pullover.

where I live (connecticut) the boys at my school have been wearing dress shirts and ties.
each day they wear them we get a donation of $1 per person towards our basketball program.
but if it wasnt for basketball I dont think they would wear them.

as a 10 yr old, unless he is a fashion junkie, thats a bit much. I jst lived in Switzerland for a yr and its definitely not the trend there. Now i live in NJ and it is a trend for HS kids, but for younger ones, its not.
